Recent Trends in Visual Cognition

Visual cognition is a complex set of processes that rely on faculties like attention, working memory, and executive control. Studies in the past decade have focussed on studying visual cognition in isolation with one or more of these processes. While progress has been made in the models of vision, the lack of convergence in empirical research prevents their application to real-life situations. An ideal model of vision must integrate advancements from computational, philosophical, neurophysiological, as well as evolutionary sciences. A dialogue among researchers from these areas allows for cross-talk and interdisciplinary research collaborations crucial for the cognitive sciences. In this workshop, we wish to invite scholars from a range of areas, such as embodied cognition, psycholinguistics, computational neurosciences, etc., to present their recent work in light of existing findings in visual cognition. Every lecture will be followed by an open discussion with the audience with the impetus for integrating interdisciplinary ideas.
